Dear Loved Ones,
It's been more than a decade since I joined Team ONE LOVE, riding for cancer causes at Tour de Pier. I never imagined how closely cancer would impact me and my immediate family! Riding for a cure has become more personal than ever.
This year, I am dedicating my ride and fundraising efforts to my dear friend, Matt Barrett. Matt and I met during my time traveling the world for Jeopardy!. No matter where in the world we were, exploring Vietnam by tuk-tuk, wandering the alleys of Naples, adventuring in the Galapagos Islands, or plunging into the frigid water of Lake Geneva, we've always found ice cream, hysterical laughter and a trusted friend. We never dreamed we'd face cancer treatment together, but 6 months after my most recent breast cancer diagnosis, Matt received a brain cancer diagnosis.
Matt is taking on this battle with grace, light, curiosity and strength. These days, despite Matt living in the Pacific NW, we are regularly in touch. It's such a gift that our conversations remain so real and unfiltered, as they always have. But now, we also share a new level of empathy and understanding through our treatment challenges and experiences.
Please join me this year as we ride TOUR DE PIER for brain cancer research (Uncle Kory Foundation), pancreatic cancer research (The Hirschberg Foundation) and to support of all families facing cancer (Cancer Support Community Southbay).
If you are far away, and can't ride in person, we'd be honored to have your support through donation. If you'd like to register to ride, please join us! Here's to making a difference together, so that no one faces cancer alone!
THANK YOU!
Kelly
