Cancer takes one life every minute every day. In the time it takes to breathe in and then out, a precious life is gone. This precious life for me was my dad, Fred. I'm in my office at Disney, mom is on the phone and we're reviewing my next business trip to Europe just days away. I hear my sister call out to her. My toddler niece is now on the phone. I think to myself, I was just home last weekend. He was ok. We spent the day at Lake Mead. They are a state away. My sister is now on the phone. She says "he’s gone". He’s gone? "Dad is GONE!" I can't breathe. How can that be? Friday. 1:23pm. August 1998. 27 years ago.
Most of us have a story of cancer…our fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, husbands and wives, our children, our best friends, our co-workers, our clients. The statistics are staggering. Today I am surrounded by rockstar survivors, warrior fighters in the thick of it, and many precious souls are gone. B-cell lymphoma took my father. It stole his vibrant life. One more life is one too many. We have to find a cure. And so, I ride.
I ride for Love. I ride for Hope. I ride for a Cure.
Please support my team and I as we ride in our 13th Tour de Pier on Sunday May 18th, 2025. TDP has raised over $13.3 million dollars for cancer charities. Our Tabula Rasa Strand Cruiser team has raised tens of thousands. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can move charity forward. Please donate now.
