Hi Everyone,
Can you imagine a world where MORE than 13% of people survive 5 years after a pancreatic cancer diagnosis?
I can. Which is why I am lacing up once again with Lara’s Little Birds to walk in the LA Cancer Challenge in honor of my little sister, Lara Meiojas.
Once Lara’s symptoms made themselves known, she had only 6 months until pancreatic cancer consumed her. Treatment only made her sicker. She had 6 months to say goodbye. And now we have a lifetime of missing her, her laughter, her humor, her life lessons, her love.
With early detection and better treatment options, Lara might still be with us. I don’t want other people and their families to go through what she and everyone who loved her went through.
The LA Cancer Challenge supports the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, which raises critical funds for research, improves patient care, advances treatment options—and ultimately works toward a cure for pancreatic cancer.
And I would be honored if you’d jump in and be a part of the flock!
You can:
- JOIN OUR TEAM and fundraise as an individual (your entry fee counts toward your fundraising total!), or
- CONTRIBUTE to my personal fundraising efforts—every dollar truly makes a difference.
By joining Lara’s Little Birds, you’ll walk or run with us either in person at UCLA or virtually from wherever you are on Sunday, October 26. It’ll be a day full of costumes, connection, and community—a chance to remember those we’ve lost and stand with those still fighting.
Together, no matter where we are, we can make a powerful impact in the fight against this disease.
I believe in a future where a pancreatic cancer diagnosis brings hope instead of heartbreak. With your help, that future is possible.
Thank you for supporting this cause so close to my heart.
With gratitude,
Allison
