WHAT THE HECK DID I SIGN UP FOR!?
TOUR DE PIER, ON THE STRAND IN MANHATTAN BEACH! MAY 19th
I'll be riding a stationary bike to raise awareness and funds for three outstanding cancer charities: Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Cancer Support Community South Bay and the Uncle Kory Foundation.
WHY THE HECK WOULD I DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?
This answer is two-fold. Each just as important to me as the other...
1) Cancer is unfair and unkind. It has stricken many people I love.. Including my dear late Father in Law, Dennis Jewell, and most recently my beloved "Aunt Lorna". It's a senseless and merciless disease, and I will do anything I can to show my solidarity and support to those that suffer from it's dirty little grasp. (Even ride a Spin Bike for an hour!)
2) My Dad, Joe Rockwood, asked me to! And, as we all know, life is way too short not to take chances, step outside our comfort zones, and most importantly spend special time with our loved ones EVERY MOMENT WE CAN GET.
So... OF COURSE I WILL RIDE!
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SUPPORT!?
Well, first, say a little prayer! I am in NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM (literally) a "spin bike rider"... So, this will be... Interesting, to say the least.
Secondly, if you'd like to contribute to this great cause, you can "sponsor me" by contributing a suggested donation of $10. Or, if you'd like, come out and join us for a fun day at the beach, a great ride, and honoring those that have/ or are currently battling this disease.
Together we can make a huge difference so that no one faces cancer alone!
