From Boston to LA, Cancer Bites!
Dear Family and Friends,
At 6 years old, I lost my grandmother in a battle to cancer and joined the Tour De Pier family. Up until 2020, I was too young to fully understand the concept of a fundraiser and relied on support from my parents. As I have gotten older, I have dedicated myself to volunteering in order to make my grandmother proud and support families who are currently fighting against cancer. Although each year of participating in Tour De Pier is special to me, this year is especially important as I have committed to studying nonprofit management and marketing at my university in the fall. I plan to continue my passion for social activism and encourage others to use their privilege to give back in any way they can. Tour De Pier has taught me the importance of using my voice and activism to create change which I will value forever. The Hirshberg Foundation has inspired me through their endless fight for change since 1997 with profits dedicated to cancer research and education. I am proud to be a part of the fight to end cancer in the hopes that one day, no family will have to lose their loved ones. Although we cannot make an overnight change, all donations will contribute to the fight against cancer. I do not want donations out of support for myself or my family, but instead a real need for change.
I thank my father for pushing me to first explore fundraising, my mother for her brave face during my childhood as she battled grief, and my brother for his dedication to the cause. The Hirshbergs have always made me feel like family, which is why I encourage you to join us in our fundraising campaign for 2024.
Thank you for the support,
Sydney Levitt
