Welcome to Amy's page!
On Sunday May 19, 2024 I'll be riding in place to move charity forward at the 9th annual Tour de Pier. The Tour de Pier brings hundreds of stationary cycling bikes to the iconic Manhattan Beach Strand to create awareness and raise funds for 3 outstanding cancer charities:
-The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research
-The Cancer Support Community of South Bay
-The Uncle Kory Foundation
Cancer has affected my life, taking too many wonderful souls near & dear to my heart. Just 6.5 years ago, I lost a friend that was battling cancer she even rode on stage for this event as a fighter in the past multiple years. She was an inspiration to all. Unfortunately we have not yet found/developed a cure, and she passed away. She left behind a husband, two young children, siblings, parents, friends and more (this is just one example & reason I ride, most recent. There has been way too many to list, especially in the last 11 years of my life.
I know there are many opportunities to give back and help others; this one just happens to be the biggest in my life. I've participated in the past years as instructor, volunteer, and team captain riding/organizing a team in this event. There are many ways that you, too, can help out.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today. Or if you'd like, you can join us on May 19 for a day of fun at the beach, a great ride, remembering those we have lost and celebrating those who are currently battling this disease. Together we can make a huge difference so that no one faces cancer alone.
The event is on Sunday May 19 (8am-2pm), and there will be a family-friendly health & fitness expo area for all ages (including young children), where they can participate in games/events. In addition, there is a retail merchandise area selling shirts/hats/accessories for the event. And.... don’t forget to grab some free swag as vendors have lots of promotional giveaway goodies!
If anyone you know wants to help by giving your TIME to VOLUNTEER, we need help with set-up, work registration, hand out gift bags, assisting riders, pass out items, wipe down bikes, direct foot traffic, & sell raffle tickets etc. I know they especially need help with hanging banners on Sat 5/18 as well.
Each ride hour has a theme, with exciting music & entertainment planned out by lead instructors to go along. Don’t miss the old skool planes fly-by in formation, celebrity participation, and seeing all the great costume ideas!
Thank you for your attention, contributions, and any efforts to spread the word.
