In September 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Statistics aren't in my favor, but as the Hirshberg Foundation says, I'm a statistic of 1!
I've undergone chemotherapy since my diagnosis, and am now on a clinical trial at UCLA, that in my case, has been proving hopeful. But the gift is the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial and push this research forward, no matter my personal outcome.
In this last year of a life with pancreatic cancer, it has been a whirlwind of confusing and often simultaneous emotions, and the Hirshberg foundation has helped bring my humanity to the forefront. While vigorously promoting research, they also have been very personal in their support of so many survivors I've known, myself included.
I've met some wonderful, spirited people that are dealing with pancreatic cancer, and am proud to be part of a "team" for this event, many of the members are part of a keystone support group.
I've also lost a few friends to this disease in the last year. I miss them. I don't want anyone else to suffer the loss of a loved one for this aggressive disease. Heck, I don't want my loved ones to suffer the loss of me either!
So let's push funding and research a little further down the road!I remember when I started my initial chemotherapy, it seemed so daunting and overwhelming, but week by week, infusion by infusion, weeks turned into months, which turned into a year so far. So every little step helps, including your/my/our contributions to this cause!
Thanks!

I'm participating in the LA Cancer Challenge! The LACC helps the Hirshberg Foundation raise money to fund research and programs designed to improve patient care, offer better treatment options and, ultimately find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today. Or if you'd like, you can join me, in-person or virtually, for a day of costumes and fun, remembering those we have lost and celebrating those who are currently battling this disease. Together, regardless of where we are, we can make a huge difference in the battle against pancreatic cancer.
