My sister Connie, whose bone marrow had saved my life five years earlier, lost her life to pancreatic cancer in 1998. Our mom was then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month after Connie passed and she succumbed to the disease in 2001. We have lost dear friends in the years since.

The incidence of pancreatic cancer has increased dramatically in our country, more than doubling since my sister and mom were diagnosed.  It is a devastating disease but people are living longer with it, thanks in no small part to brilliant researchers such as the ones we fund.
