Why I ride

I'll be riding in place to move charity forward at the Tour de Pier! The Tour de Pier brings hundreds of stationary cycling bikes to the iconic Manhattan Beach Strand to create awareness and raise funds for three outstanding cancer charities: Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Cancer Support Community South Bay and the Uncle Kory Foundation.
This year I ride in honor of a friend and colleague that battled valiantly against metastatic breast cancer (MBC). There were more than 168,000 women living with metastatic breast cancer in the U.S. in 2020. including my friend. Some people, like Kelly, have MBC when they are first diagnosed (6% of diagnoses in U.S. women). Kelly fought tirelessly against the disease. She completed standard protocols and extended her treatment to include many experimental protocols. Despite all her efforts, she lost her battle on March 30, 2022.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today so we can find a way to give these incredible people more time. Or if you'd like, you can join me for a day of fun at the beach, a great ride, remembering those we have lost and celebrating those who are currently battling this disease. Together we can make a huge difference so that no one faces cancer alone. Let's ride in place and move charity forward!
