Riding for Bill; forever with us
The past 18 months have been more challenging than most. We have been forced to fight an enemy that is unfamiliar and ever-changing, face realities that did not exist before, and confront challenges that seemed unimaginable just a short time ago. Sounds a lot like someone facing a cancer diagnosis.
I could not be more committed to participating in this year's Tour de Pier. On September 12, 2021 this annual event returns. We will gather together on Manhattan Beach Pier for the first time since 2019 with a singular focus, to create awareness and raise funds for three outstanding cancer charities: Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach and the Uncle Kory Foundation.
I was fortunate to meet two of the founders of the Tour during my husband Bill's brief battle with pancreatic cancer more than 8 years ago. I rode in the inaugural event in May 2013, a few short months after he died. I am eternally grateful for the support and encouragement I received, and for the continued opportunity to help others in their fight against cancer. The money raised supports research to identify the causes of pancreatic cancer and rare brain tumors, facilitate early detection, extend the lives of those diagnosed, and to find a cure.
Bill is forever with us and I ride to honor and celebrate his memory, and to remember all those who fought so bravely.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts. Join me. Together we will continue making a huge difference.
