Help me take the LA Cancer Challenge!
My brother Randy is a doctor who, besides seeing patients, also does research in pancreatic cancer. Last year, he receved an award for his amazing work from the National Pancreas Foundation and I couldn't be a prouder sister.
It was my brother's work that brought me to participate in the Hirshberg Foundation 5k several years ago. Originally, I was running/walking on behalf of my brother's patients. Now, I also walk on behalf of so many people who are currently battling or lost their fight to this disease -- this includes the legendary University of Washington coach at my alma mater, Don James who lost his battle 7 years ago. It also includes my friends and their families who have, or have watched, loved ones battle this disease. Recently, the disease took the life of Congressman John Lewis, but Alex Trebek is still fighting.
So, I'm participating in the LA Cancer Challenge at UCLA! The LACC helps the Hirshberg Foundation raise money to fund research and programs designed to improve patient care, offer better treatment options and, ultimately find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today. We are socially distancing and meeting at the Rose Bowl on October 25 if you are in the Los Angeles area. But, if you are not in town or cannot make it to the Rose Bowl, plese don't let it prevent you from walking wherever you are in support of finding a cure for this horrible disease. The cool thing about a virtual walk, is you can set the time or date on your own. Just come and be a part of the Don James Gang. Together we can make a huge difference in the battle against pancreatic cancer.
