Courtney Runs LA! 26.2 on 3.24.19
10 years ago I decided to do something crazy! I was not a "runner" but l decided to run. I joined a team, trained for months, raised money for a great cause and crossed the finish line of my first Marathon! Many of you were there cheering me on along the way.
A few years later I did it again! On March 18, 2012 I ran from Dodger Stadium to Ocean Ave . . . and I promised myself it wouldn't be the last time. So here we are . . . 10 years after I decided to cross a marathon off my "bucket list" I'm spending my weekends on long runs, getting miles in before work and asking for your support.
On March 24, 2019 I will be running my 4th Marathon - 26.2 miles through the streets of LA as a part of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research Training Team. Why Pancreatic Cancer? Because it is the #3 cancer killer in the United States amongst both men and women and like many of you, I want to see the day when cancer never wins. On a personal note, I recently started a new job at a great company that believes in making a difference. The Hirshberg Foundation was started by our CEO, Jon, in honor of his father, Ron.
Fundraising for this cause means my miles will matter . . . and there have been a lot of miles. Despite starting a new job, dealing with some minor health "obstacles" and a lot of travel throughout this journey my training has continued . . . across LA, Portland, West Palm Beach . . . I've run through rain, heat and snow (yes, snow!) And I'm not done yet.
Training and fundraising are never easy. But with your support we will cross the finish line! Please consider making a donation today to help me to reach my fundraising goal!
And if you're in LA on March 24th PLEASE come out to cheer me on as I run from the Stadium to the Sea! Friendly faces & loud voices make the best race support!
