Welcome to Team Darsenio

Why am I riding? If you've met me, you wouldn't think any sad thing had come across my path from my happy and positive disposition. But let me tell you the opposite it true! When I was younger I lost my grandmother to Breast Cancer and had to watch my mother cope with the loss, while I had to cope with knowing I'd never really get to know this women who had lived accross the country from me most my life. When I was 22 I was involved in an accidental pregnancy while still in college. My daughter was named Ayleen Kamia Estrada-Hunter and was born with the biggest and most beautiful eyes! Unfrotunately she was also born with a rare chromosome disorder called "Trisomy 18". Although it wasn't cancer it felt like it, as she already had the odds against her before she even knew it. It was a fatal disorder that allowed her two and a half years of life before claiming her. The point of these two stories and the reason I will be riding is so that I can help make a difference in someone else's life so that they can have a fighting chance and experence life with their family and friends for as long as they can!
I'll be riding in place to move charity forward at Tour de Pier Seattle! The Tour de Pier brings hundreds of stationary cycling bikes to Lake Union Park for five, energetically themed hour-long rides to create awareness and raise funds for three outstanding cancer charities: Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Virginia Mason Cancer Institute and the Uncle Kory Foundation.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today. Or if you'd like, join me for an inspirational ride to remember those we have lost and celebrate those who are currently battling cancer. Together we can make a huge difference so that no one faces cancer alone. Let's ride in place and move charity forward!
