Together we are making a difference
On May 19, 2019 I'll be riding for my 7th time at the 7th annual Tour de Pier. This is a passionate event that brings hundreds of stationary bikes and thousands of riders to the Manhattan Beach Pier to create awareness and raise funds for three outstanding cancer charities: Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach and the Uncle Kory Foundation.
I was fortunate to meet two of the founders of the Tour during my husband Bill's brief battle with pancreatic cancer. I rode in the inaugural event in May 2013, a few short months after he died. I am eternally grateful for the support and encouragement I received, and for the continued opportunity to help others in their fight against cancer. The money raised supports research to identify the causes of pancreatic cancer, facilitate early detection, extend the lives of those diagnosed and to find a cure.
Each year at the Tour I am touched by so many stories; everyone rides for a reason. Most recently I was moved by the story of a woman who died too young. She was young and feared she'd be forgotten. That will never happen. Her life and the lives of thousands of others are celebrated that day.
Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts. I ride for Bill, forever with us, and for all of our loved ones, especially those still fighting. Join me. Together we will continue making a huge difference.
