Welcome to my personal page
On November 13, 1993 my dear old dad lost his short battle to Pancreatic Cancer. November 24, 2016 my much-loved brother in law lost his short battle of 49 days to Pancreatic Cancer. What are the chances that 2 of the most important men in our family would have the same disease? It was hard to believe, but it is true.
When Dad was diagnosed we had no idea that pancreatic cancer was so fatal. It had already metastasized to his liver before he was diagnosed. It was a painful ugly cancer that took him from us quickly. 23 years later my brother in law Dan was diagnosed with a mass in his pancreas. I was in disbelief that it could be pancreatic cancer again, but it was. How could this be? As a team, our family stood by his side with HOPE. Hope for a miracle, hope that things had changed in 23 years from the time Dad was diagnosed, hope for a future, a future without pancreatic cancer.
Dad and Dan did not get to see a future without pancreatic cancer but it’s out there, and that is why on March 18, 2018 I will be running in the LA Marathon as a part of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Research's Training Team and I've committed to raise at least $1,000. These funds not only go towards pancreatic cancer research, but they benefit families with newly diagnosed patients with information and support, which we experienced first hand.
The statistics right now are around 9%, but with your help we have a chance to improve that number. Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal and honor two very important men in our lives.
With much gratitude,
