Running in Honor of my Mom
On March 19, 2017 I will be running in the LA Marathon as a part of the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Research's Training Team. This past year I have been training for my first ever full marathon by consistently running during the week and occasionally participating in a few half marathons. In honor of my mother's passing I will be running to support the Hirshburg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. My mother was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2013 and faught a brave and fearless battle with it until it ultimately took her life on October 22nd, 2016. Many who are diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer are not as lucky as my mom to have 3 years post-diagnosis. Me and my family knew this so we cherished everyday that she was with us. However, seeing your mother slowly decline in health right in front of your eyes is something I would never wish upon anyone, so that is why I hope that the money that I raise by running this marathon will go towards research into early detection of and innovative treatments against Pancreatic Cancer. I've committed to raising 1000 dollars for this cause. No one deserves to go through what my family has gone through because of Pancreatic Cancer.
The statistics are grim, but with your help we have a chance to improve them. Pancreatic cancer is the #3 cancer killer in the United States amongst both men and women. Nine out of ten pancreatic cancer patients will die. The average life expectancy after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is just 3-6 months.
Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal. Any amount is greatly appreciated in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer.
I'm nervous about running in a marathon for the first time, but I know that I'll be okay because my mother will be my guardian angel watching over me.
Thank you for your support! Much love to you all!
