Becoming a Team Captain
Forming a Team
- A team is made up of 5 or more members
- Great for schools, businesses, organizations and other groups
- Teams are often formed in honor or memory of someone
- A team joins people together in the fight against cancer
Registration
Creating a team is simple:
- Click REGISTER
- Agree to the terms of service
- Select "Start a Team" and then enter your team name and goals

Corporate Teams
Rally your co-workers and boost team spirit in the workplace by recruiting your most energetic coworkers to form a company team. Get started today by registering as a Team Captain, enter your Company Name and set a Team Fundraising Goal. We’ll provide the essential tools to make it easy for everyone to become champions for a cure!
We have some easy tools to help get your team started and ensure it’s a success:
- A Team Tip Sheet to get your team excited for the big event!
- Team Posters to place in your office, break room, or lobby.
- LA Cancer Challenge post cards and a countertop stand
- Bonus: Sponsorship packet if you’re workplace is interested in additional opportunities
We’ll award an awesome trophy to the Largest Corporate Team and the Highest Fundraising Corporate Team. Plus, all corporate team members are eligible for all the great fundraising prizes and winners awards that LACC has to offer!

Looking for a great place to meet up with your team members on event day? This year’s Team Lounge is back and better than ever! The Team Lounge is a special space reserved just for teams with some additional perks to thank you for all your hard work. It’s a great place to hang out with team members, grab a quick snack, and enjoy a great view of the stage festivities. And don’t forget to take a team photo at the Team Photo area too!
Reserved Team Tents
Need your own space? A limited number of Reserved Team Tents are available*. A Team Tent is a 10’ x 10’ canopy located within the Team Lounge and includes an 8-foot table, chairs and a place to hang your team banner**. Contact MTZ Productions for availability.
*Cost is $250 and does not count towards your team fundraising.
**Team banner must be delivered to us in advance of race day in order to get installed.

Wear a Tribute Bib
Visit the Hirshberg Foundation Booth on race morning to fill out a complimentary purple tribute bib to be worn in memory or support of loved ones
Kids Can Cure Banner
We provide the pumpkins, markers, and purple ribbons, so all the kids have to do is use their imagination to create a special momento representing their love for the LA Cancer Challenge!
Sign our 2016 Memory Banner
Visit the Hirshberg Foundation Booth on race morning to view banners from years past and sign this years' banner.
Create a Square for our Quilted Memory Banner*
Squares will be sewn together into a banner that is displayed in the Expo. New squares are added each year.
*Specifications for our Quilted Memory Banner
1) Decorate any 13 inch x 13 inch piece of fabric (cotton, cotton blend or woven cotton only please)
2) Leave a 1 inch border around all sides that is free of all decoration (decorated area is 12 inch x 12 inch)
3) You can iron-on a photo, draw a picture, decorate with stencils, buttons, fabric paints, etc.
4) Mail square to us: 2990 S. Sepulveda Blvd, Suite 300C, Los Angeles, CA 90064 by October 1, 2016.
Team Contests
There are two team contests each year.
- Highest # of registered participants
- Highest $ amount raised
Winning teams are based on online statistics through Sunday, October 16, 2016. Winning teams will be announced on Monday, October 17, 2016.
2015 Highest Fundraiser = $49,711 - Marvin's Marvels
2015 Most Participants = Raging Health & Marvin's Marvels (tied)
In addition to the two team contests, we also award plaques to the fastest 3 teams in both the 5K and 10K. Team scores are based on the fastest combined times of the top 5 finishers per team.
Team Tribute Video
Be a Part of the Tribute Video
Every year one of the emotional highlights of the day is watching the "big screen" at our race and seeing the Tribute Video that we create using photos submitted by our team captains. Be a part of it!
For returning Team Captains:
Let us know if you would like to use the same photos from previous years or if you would like to change them. Email Phillip at phillip@pancreatic.org
For new Team Captains:
If you would like to submit photos or video footage, please email up to 4 photos to: Phillip at phillip@pancreatic.org before October 1, 2016
If your team is honoring a survivor, please let us know how many years your honoree has been living with the disease.
If your team is in memory of someone, please let us know his or her full name.
Photo Specifics:
The bigger the better. Ideally photos should be at least 150 dpi in resolution (which is typically a minimum of 600K file size), If you would like to submit video, please make a copy of your video footage before sending it.
